Rinex Syrup: A Cough and Congestion Relief

Rinex Syrup is a combination medication that can help relieve the symptoms of the common cold, flu, allergies, hay fever, or other breathing illnesses. It contains two active ingredients: dextromethorphan, a cough suppressant, and pseudoephedrine, a decongestant. Rinex Syrup is available over-the-counter in most countries.

 

RINEX SYRUP Is Used For

  • The symptomatic relief of nasal congestion due to the common cold and flu, hay fever, allergic rhinitis, other upper respiratory allergies, or associated with sinusitis.
  • Relief of Eustachian tube congestion as an adjunct to treatment of middle ear infection.

Dosage

NOT FOR CHILDREN UNDER 6 YEARS OF AGE.

Adults and children 12 years and older:

One medicine measure (5 ml) 3 to 4 times daily.

Children 6 to 12 years:

Half a medicine measure (2.5 ml) 3 to 4 times daily.

RINEX SYRUP Contains

Rinex Syrup

Each 5 ml of RINEX SYRUP contains: Chlorphenamine maleate 4 mg Phenylpropanolamine hydrochloride 5 mg Phenylephrine hydrochloride 5 mg.

Other Ingredients
Excipients: Carmoisine W.S. (C.l. No. 14720), citric acid monohydrate, ethanol (96 % ) rebate, flavor essence cherry No. 1, flavour vanilla No. 1, nipasept, monosodium glutamate, saccharin sodium, sodium cyclamate, sorbitol (70 % ) solution.

Contains alcohol: 4,50 % v/v

Preservative: Nipasept 0,12 % m/v

Contains sugar : Sorbitol (70 % ) solution 3,5 ml. Contains sweetener: Sodium cyclamate 40 mg, saccharin sodium 4 mg.

Therapeutic Classification
A 5.8 Preparation for the common cold, including nasal decongestants.

 

BEFORE YOU TAKE RINEX

Do not take RINEX

  • If you are allergic (hypersensitive) to any of the ingredients contained in RINEX (see WHAT RINEXCONTAINS).
  • RINEX should not be given during acute attacks of asthma.
  • If you are on treatment with a monoamine oxidase inhibitor for depression, or within two weeks of stopping treatment with the monoamine oxidase inhibitor.
  • If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, as safety has not been established. Phenylephrine hydrochloride, one of the active ingredients in RINEX, is best avoided in pregnancy, because it may cause contraction of the uterus and constriction of blood vessels, with the possibility of decreasing oxygen supply to the foetus.
  • If you suffer wth hypertension (high blood pressure), hyperthyroidism (overactive thyroid gland) or cardiovascular disease, such as ischaemic heart disease (less oxygen supply to the heart).
  • RINEX must not be used in children under sixyears of age.

Take special care with RINEX

  • RINEXshould not be taken for more than seven days. After 5 to 7days, tolerance may
    occur and the product oses effect. If symptoms do not improve, or are accompanied by fever, consult a doctor.
    •Exceeding the recommended dosage may result in nervousness, dizziness, sleeplessness, tremulousness or cardiac dysrhythmia (irregular heartbeat).
    •If you have any of the following conditions:
    -Occlusive vascular disease including arteriosclerosis (hardening of the arteries) and
    aneurysms (abnormal widening of a portion of a blood vessel).
    Closed-angle glaucoma (increased pressure in the eye).
    -Phaechromocytoma (a tumour of the adrenal gland).
    •RINEX may cause severely high blood pressure which may lead to intracranial
    haemorrhage(bleeding in the brain).
    •If you exceed the recommended dose; as an increased risk of serious adverse events
    such as hypertensive crisis andhaemorrhagicstroke have been associatedwith higher
    than normal doses.
    •If you have cardiovascular disease, hypertension or hyperthyroidism (see Do not take
    RINEX).
    •If you have diabetes, glaucoma or prostatic enlargement as RINEXmay aggravate such
    conditions.
    •If you have angina pectoris (severe chest pain due to a lack of oxygen supply), as
